Pyrolysis for the prevention of phosgene and dioxins

Many years of operating waste incinerating plants in Denmark, Japan, USA, France, Finland and Germany show that waste incineration has failed to fully live up to the expectations of improving the environment in these countries.

It turned out that these methods of waste incineration generate vast amounts of dangerous substances, such as dioxins, furans, etc. resulting from incomplete waste burning, since complete solid waste incineration is not yet required by regulations.

As a result, incineration technologies proposed for domestic waste would emit substances even more dangerous than the initial domestic refuse. Many of such noxious substances are carcinogens.

Products of incomplete combustion actively react with chlorine components contained in domestic waste. As a result, dangerous pollutants are being generated as per formulas below: 

СО + Cl2 = COCl2 (phosgene)

2СО + 4НСl + 10С = С12Н4Сl4О2 (dioxins).

We can conclude that many of the technologies seeking to make domestic waste harmless in fact generate products of incomplete combustion along with harmful and poisonous substances for which no gas treatment system exists at the moment.

Given that refuse burning is in fact the only applicable solution to neutralizing and utilizing consumer waste capable of eliminating vast dump yards and resolving fierce waste disposal problems in modern cities, our experts have developed a multi-stage cascade system of reprocessing household waste and thermal treatment of such waste based on this technology which excludes any factors which contribute to the formation of noxious substances.

In other words, we have established conditions for preventing the creation of harmful substances not only in the gaseous phase of thermally degradable waste, but also in the solid state phase of domestic waste (such as ash and slag).

The plant developed by us on the basis of the proposed technology is in fact a thermal power plant which is totally safe environmentally speaking is bound to quickly return investment and recuperate costs. Moreover, it can output various types of lucrative by-products to be sold to new customers.
